    Sherri Chronister:
Can Defy Hardwood Stain be used over Defy Extreme. Used Extreme last year on cedar deck buts sounds like Hardwood works better on cedar.

No, you would need to strip off the Extreme to use the Hardwood.

    Sherri Chronister:
I stained a new cedar deck last year with Defy Extreme in Natural Pine. I want to stain again and use a darker color of the same stain. Will the darker color be changed much by the old color and do I clean and brighten again before staining?

You should be okay as long as you pressure wash with the Defy Wood Cleaner. No need for the brightener.

    William Riddick:
I have an oceanfront house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. (Lots of sun, salt, corrosion, etc.) I am replacing about 3000 sq. ft. of sun decks, porches, walkways, and steps. I am using high quality treated pine 2x6 deck boards. (This is C grade lumber (two steps above #1) that is commonly used for floors and trim.) My lumber supplier suggests I seal this wood immediately (on all sides) before it gets wet.

What is the best sealer for me to use? I don’t care about “staining” the wood, nor it turning gray. I simply want to prevent the wood from water absorption and “checking.”

You should not stain new wood right away. See this article:

    http://www.defystainhelp.com/prep-new-wood-for-defy-stains/

After the wait and prep, look at our Defy Extreme Clear.

Have a log home used your synthetic stain in Teton bronze should we stay with it or can we use the extreme live in Arizona lot of sun

Yes, but you will need to prep and there is not the same color in the Extreme Line.

    David Watson:
I have 9 year old Trex Select composite deck, original in saddle color. It's now bleached out very light tan and heavily black algae stained. Will Defy cleaner remove the stains? Can I then stain with Defy Extreme to change the color to driftwood gray? And then use Defy Sealer to maintain it? Thanks for any help.

The cleaner should help to remove the mold. The Defy Extreme is not designed for composite wood. FYI, you cannot use a sealer over a stain.

I used clear tone last time. Would like something just a little darker. Deck is made out of pressure treated pine. 20 years old.

Prep well and use the Defy Extreme in Natural Pine.

    Suzi:
I am in southeast Louisiana and have a new raised covered deck made of pressure treated pine and also new fencing made of rough sawn cedar boards. I would like a semi-solid stain in a brown that is muted -- more muddy gray-brown and not reddish. What color samples should I try?

    Butternut.

We are looking at getting some extra life out of our boarwalks here on our property. We have been replacing them recently using KDAT 2x6 boards and I was wondering what you would recommend using on these to help seal them. Thank you

Can I use this no an older deck that have
Some cracks and old stan on it?

If the stain is of a different brand then you will have to remove it before using the Defy.

We have a large home with cedar shake siding. We have completed a significant cleaning effort and the wood is ready for staining. Should we use the Defy Original, Defy Extreme, or other product for this application? We want the most durable and mildew resistant product available. Thanks!

Defy Extreme offer the best UV resistance and mold prevention for vertical siding. Make sure that any previous coatings are removed.

    Jim Sanderson:
I believe your Defy Extreme Stain would perform best in my situation, but would like confirmation. The deck was consructed of yellow pine (not pressure treated) and is located in Saint George, Utah.

Yes that would be best. Make sure to prep first with our Deck Cleaner and Wood Brightener.
