We will reply to your comment shortly.· 11/17/2021I have used defy synthetic semi transparent stain on my cedar siding. Can I apply the extreme stain over the old semi transparent stain?
-
We will reply to your comment shortly.I bought the Extreme cedar stain for our cedar siding. After a test area, it looks like the stain is for red cedar, not white cedar which we have. Does Defy have an alternative?
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. No, and it works for all cedar types.

We will reply to your comment shortly. This surprises me since the Extreme says it is for hardwoods. What would be the equivalent color to light walnut in the Defy original?
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. No, that is the Hardwood version. The link we sent was not for the Hardwood version but the regular Extreme version. You want the Light Walnut in the link we sent above.
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. This is a quote from the link you sent (Not the hardwood version) “Defy Extreme Wood Stain can be used on interior or exterior smooth hardwood surfaces including: wood siding, decks, outdoor wood furniture, and other hardwood surfaces.”
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. That is correct, the Defy Extreme is for all wood types.

We will reply to your comment shortly.Hi. I Alaskan Yellow Cedar as siding around my house and as a decorative feature. I removed the mold and sanded the wood with 80 grit (because it got fuzzy after removing the mold). Then applied Defy Water Repellent stain (sun valley pine). It looks great. What is the maintenance procedure to give me the best chances of beating the mold this time? Anything I need to do monthly or at the 1 year mark?
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. No, just clean and redo every 2-3 years.

We will reply to your comment shortly. Our idiot maintenance man user Behr deck sealer which left an orange tint on our Composite deck. Do you have a product that will stain over that? We are talking 3800 square feet of composite decking.
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. No, nothing can be applied over it. The Behr will have to be removed.

We will reply to your comment shortly. If I switch to Defy Extreme for my new shop siding, can it match the Defy Original Teton Bonze color I have on my log home? I don't see Teton Bronze as an option with the Defy Extreme.
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. No, it will not match. Best to stick with the Defy Original.

We will reply to your comment shortly.I have a log home which we treated about 6 years ago with DeFy UV Protectant which I can't find on your website Are you no longer making it and what should I switch out to?
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. There was not a product called "DeFy UV Protectant" in the past so more than likely the Defy Original is what you used and should use again.

Do I have to strip my old Defy epoxy stain to use this product ? I did not have to strip using the epoxy stain and it worked great . Can you guys help with this thanks Don
The Replacement for the Epoxy is the Extreme. The Extreme can be cleaned and reapplied without the need for stripping like the Epoxy -

We will reply to your comment shortly.I have a log cabin, white/yellow pine logs, 7 years old, bleach washed and stripped old stain (oil based)left over winter untreated (ran out of warm weather), north side developed bad black mold (no sun). want to use your product but most of the info I see is for decks, can you send me info on the best bet for me to combat this issue, want to stay with the log look trying to stay away from solid latex but that looks like the only option I have unless I want to spend 2 weeks of the 4 weeks vacation I have washing n scrubbing my cabin every 2-3 years. Help needed in Wisconsin
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. No need to apply anything on top. Redo in 2-3 years or as needed.

We will reply to your comment shortly.I am in the process of putting wood siding and new pressure treat 2X4s and 1X4s to recove my exsisting shed. How long should I wait to stain? I understand the pressure treat lumber needs time to cure, should I wait a week, month or a year? or does it matter
-
We will reply to your comment shortly. The old deck would need to be stripped and or sanded to remove all of the old stain. Once done you would use a wood brightener. The newer deck needs a cleaner and brightener for the prep. Once all the wood is properly prepped, you would want to use the Defy Extreme Stain.

We will reply to your comment shortly.I have about 1000 sq foot of decking, and a pool. We live in Ohio so we get all the elements so this deck gets abused! Part of the deck is old and stain is flaking and peeling and I have green mold, what the heck do I do with that to get it ready to stain???? The new portion is just pressure treated lumber, nothing's on it but it's 2 years old and I assume needs cleaned before staining???? Finally what is your very best longest lasting stain??? I am so worried abt the 2 decks matching in color so I was going to use behrs solid color stain but I keep hearing bad reviews! Please help me, I'm ready to purchase!

We will reply to your comment shortly.I have wood from Brazil (hardwood decking) we used Behr last year it all peeled up this winter needed to strip it off what a job. Does Defy coat the wood like Behr does it peeled like nail polish it wasn't transparent. Very unhappy and afraid on what to use. I do not want to go through this again. Nothing that coats the wood. I live in southern nj.
Thank you,

We will reply to your comment shortly. My log home (white cedar) had the Defy original stain applied when built in 2001 using the #300 redwood canyon color. Several years later another coat was applied. The color is now an unattractive dark brown and has worn to the point where it needs to be recoated. What must I do to lighten the wood or strip off the existing coat?

We will reply to your comment shortly.I have to re stain my cedar sided house. I used a product 4 years ago called menwood stain. I believe it is a oil based stain. I now have a great deal of mildew on the north side of my house. Two questions. What is the best and easiest way to remove the mildew and second, can I use a synthetic based stain over the menwood stain. Will it last as long as an oil based stain. thanks
