Staining pressure treated wood is easy when you use this professional deck stain. Defy Epoxy Fortified wood deck stain comes in 5 semi-transparent deck stain colors: Natural Pine, CedarTone, Light Walnut, Redwood and Driftwood Gray.

Defy Epoxy Fortified wood stain is a high performance semi-transparent penetrating finish that helps prevent the destructive effects of water, fungi, and UV radiation on exterior wood. With its unique epoxy fortified synthetic resin, this product is able to penetrate wood pores to block out the damaging effects of weather while allowing the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. Defy Epoxy Fortified wood stain is ideally suited for staining pressure treated wood and can be used on interior or exterior wood surfaces including: wood siding, log homes, decks, fences, shake shingles, outdoor wood furniture, pressure treated lumber, and all other naturally porous wood surfaces.

For smooth hardwoods, such as cedar, mahogany, redwood, and other dense woods, use:Defy Deck Stain for Hardwoods.

This professional deck stain will give you years of protection for your deck and is easy to maintain. On horizontal surfaces simply apply a single maintenance coat every 2-3 years and 3-5 years for the vertical surfaces. No need to strip the deck every time. It may be beneficial to use Defy Wood Brightener to clean and brighten it before the maintenance coat.

All of the Defy professional deck stain colors contain powerful sunscreens to block damaging UV rays. Ultra violet rays cause wood to turn gray and become susceptible to water penetration and decay. Epoxy Fortified wood stain contains synthetic resins that do not attract mildew and algae like other natural resin stains do. Additionally, this professional deck stain is a water repellent.

Two questions: I am putting in a 450 sq ft kd cedar deck. 1. Do I need to two coat both sides? 2. How many gallons of stain should I buy?
steve b , April 28, 2011
...
No you do not need to stain both sides. Just the exposed areas. For 450 square feet i would look at the 5 gallon pail.

I have put in a new deck. When should I apply the sealant? I replaced deck end of June.

Best to wait 1-2 months to let the wood dry. Make sure to prep the wood with the Defy Wood Cleaner and Defy Wood Brightener. This will "open" the wood pores so the stain can penetrate into the wood better.

In the process of building a deck and was looking into stain options. my deck will be 18'x 14' one level 18" from ground. Would 1 gallon of this product be enough or should I get 2?
Paul Hebert , August 25, 2011
...
For an 18x14 deck you would need two gallons. If you have railings/steps then you would a third.

I just finished completing a 12'x 16 deck. I started the deck June 2, and just completed the ralling this pass weekend. I have noticed that the deck boards have shrank alot since I installed them. Thank god a friend of mine that builds houses for a living told me to butt the pressure treated wood up tight due to shrinkage in the wood. I now can fit a paint stick in between, Perfect!! I would like to stain my deck before the winter hits the area. Will 2 gallons be good to stain my deck? I have worked so hard on my deck a little at a time each weekend. I want the best stain I can get. Your stain sound really good? My deck is in the sun for 10 hours a day. Summer heat is Unbearable. Can you provide me with your advise, and what stain would you recomend?

...
When you include the railings and the flooring you would need about 3 gallons of the Defy Epoxy Stain.

Make sure to prep the wood properly with the Defy Wood Cleaner and the Defy Wood Brightener.

I'm installing a 100 sq ft porch. Tongue and groove, preasure treated pine. Should I use Defy Epoxy for this application. I plan to apply the stain before installing. Should I apply to both the top and bottom?
curtis , October 03, 2011
...
Yes the Defy Epoxy would be a great choice for the tongue and groove porch. I would just stain the exposed side. Make sure to apply a wood cleaner and a wood brightener to prep the new wood.

I just ordered the Extreme. Will it work on pressure treated pine as well or should I change my order to Epoxy?
curtis , October 03, 2011
...
And do I need to use a a cleaner and brightener if I am sanding before applying?
curtis , October 03, 2011
...
Yes it will work on Pressure Treated Wood just as well or better then the Epoxy.
opwdecks , October 03, 2011
...
Yes you need a cleaner and brightener. Sanding closes the wood pores will the use of a cleaner and brightener "opens" the wood pores.

I have some left over stain. How long will it last in the container it came in before I use it again?
George , October 16, 2011
...
Depends on how well you close the lid. Shelf life of an opened container is about 12-18 months.
